Welcome to Lancaster Improv Players. We are a Lancaster, PA based improv troupe that is going to make the world better through improv.
So... how did it all begin? In the spring of 2015, Josh McCune, Henry Wagner and Austin Rittle were recently graduated or wrapping up their college improv careers and were looking to keep the laughter going. With a more than 10 years of improv experience combined, they had the experience and were talking about next steps.
At the same time, Bill Dewan was looking for a way to build his leadership skills. A Lancaster nonprofit leader, he received a prestigious Baldwin Fellowship from the Lancaster County Community Foundation to study improv comedy at Upright Citizens Brigade in NYC.
Their paths crossed at a UCB show in Lancaster and the result became Lancaster Improv Players. As we began working together, it was clear that this was something special.
We have developed our style (mostly long-form with some short-form chasers) and a business plan. We have joined forces with Creative Works of Lancaster and have rallied around a nonprofit model for operations. Our aim is to grow and support improv in the community: think college & high school workshops, helping fellow nonprofits meet their goals through assisting with their strategic planning and so on. When we make a few bucks (and we have!), we will invest it back into the troupe and the community that we love!
You can support us through a contribution, by coming to a show, by liking us on Facebook & Instagram or booking us for a corporate training.
We hope you enjoy the show!
